By this point, you’ve probably heard a lot about our new print magazine.

What began as a passion project aimed at teaching people worldwide how to live happier lives has now developed into a globally-distributed publication, packed full of beautiful images and breathtaking articles from the world’s best.

What you didn’t know, perhaps, was why I started Mind Cafe in the first place.

In 2018, my fiancé was diagnosed with brain cancer out of nowhere. After eighteen of the most difficult months of my life, she passed away peacefully in the summer of 2019.

Deep in the throes of grief…

Even at our lowest moments, there’s always something to learn.

I was only 18. After almost 7 years in a relationship with the kindest, sweetest and most beautiful girl, Charlotte was clearly unwell.

She’d always been prone to illness. Any infection that was in circulation would always catch her out, but this was different. This time, she was losing her ability to read, write, and even walk. We knew something was wrong, but nobody had anticipated just how bad things were.

Within weeks of things being almost completely normal, there we were in the hospital waiting room, anxiously trying to figure out what an earth was going on. …

Minus most of the usual clichés, but still including a few.

We all will, at some point in our lives, be confronted with heartbreak. At the young, naive age of twenty-two, I’ve crossed paths with it several times.

The first was when I least expected it. Six-and-a-half years into a relationship that began when I was only thirteen-years-old, Charlotte was diagnosed with brain cancer out of the blue. Terminal. Eighteen months.

“Sorry, there’s nothing we can do.”

Charlotte passed away in the summer of 2019. Then, I reasoned that, if I could get through such a difficult experience, I’d make it through anything. Nothing would phase me from here on out…

Please fill in this form instead!

Hey all,

Just a quick one from me. It was brought to my attention that the form I sent yesterday about joining our new community didn’t include a box to add your email address.

Please could I ask that those of you that filled it in the Typeform yesterday fill it in once again here, but adding your email when prompted to do so.

My apologies for the inconvenience on this. On another note, though, it’s wonderful to see how many of you are interested in joining After Hours — I can’t wait to launch it with you.

Tl;dr: We’re launching a brand new self-improvement community. To join our beta for free, click here.

It’s ironic, I suppose. Self-improvement, though a solitary commitment, is made far easier with the help of others.

The benefits of being part of a community of people with a similar goal cannot be understated. Together, they can support each other towards a common aim, thriving alongside one another and providing a helping hand when one person might fall.

Introducing Mind Cafe After Hours

That’s what Mind Cafe After Hours will be. A thriving community of passionate self-improvers, all helping eachother to become the best versions of themselves.

A simple guide for beginners.
