I do agree, Dainis. It’s certainly wise to take inspiration from the work we admire, as well as to analyse skilled authors’ writing techniques in order to learn how to improve our own. We have to be mindful, however, that we aren’t searching through their prose for a ‘secret’, copying and plagiarising their work in an attempt to leverage their success. We have to maintain our voice and resist the urge to sell ourselves out to clickbait and virality.
